2020 COVID – 19 Response Summary

Our community is relying on La Crèche Early Childhood Centers, Inc. to conduct business and to be there for our children, parents and families. Giving our children the care and early education without interruption is our top priority. As an essential business, we take our responsibility in our centers very seriously and keeping everyone safe is a critical piece of our main concern. Here are some of the steps we are taking:

Putting Safety First – What La Crèche is doing:

• We have implemented extra cleaning efforts throughout our centers with continuous cleaning and sanitizing of toys, bathrooms, hand contact surfaces, doors, and nap mats

• Installed plexiglass dividers in our entry way and in our office area

• Parent drop-off/pick-up allowed only in the narthex of both centers

• All staff and children will be tempered upon entering the building. Any staff/child with a temperature above 99.0 will be turned away

• Due to Governor Waltz Executive Order, both centers have temporarily reduced to 50% enrollment • Due to Governor Waltz Executive Order, both centers operate during temporary hours from 8:00-5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday • Both centers have temporarily discontinued family style breakfast, lunch and snack meals. All meals will be served in their respective classrooms • All staff must wear (company provided) gloves, masks, smocks, and additional protective gear during unavoidable social distancing circumstances (diapering, bathroom help, food service)

• Children and staff are on a scheduled hand-washing plan

• Following all government agency safety guidelines and recommendations

Putting everyone’s safety first – What you can do:

• If your child or anyone in your home is feeling ill, please keep your child home • If you or anyone in your home has any symptoms or has tested positive for COVID-19, please notify us immediately

• Continue to properly use the entrance/exit plan implemented for keeping our staff/children safe. Please do not enter the building beyond the entry area • Limit the number of family members entering the building to drop-off/pick-up your child • Please ensure that you are sanitizing all of your child’s belongings coming into our building and the items sent home with your child

Our Mission

Our mission is to instill responsibility and accountability while providing a friendly environment with a safe, fun, and enjoyable early learning experience that prepares students to be ready for school and life.

Infants

AGES 6 Weeks - 6 Months

Our commitment to early learning and education begins in our infant program with the partnership between our teachers and parents.

Our teachers help infants explore environments, both indoors and outdoors. Daily the infants receive “tummy time” with the teaching staff and foster grandmothers to support each infants development, so each infant develops a sense of what he or she is capable of doing. Teachers continually talk to the infants and/or play music to develop language and new ideas.

Toddlers

AGES 12 - 24 Months

As a benefit of participating in the Early Head Start partnership program your family will have access to family support services, training opportunities, and working one-on-one with your Parent and Child Advocate. This program is held in a newly renovated property located at 1120 Oliver Avenue in North Minneapolis, and works in partnership with La Crèche and PICA Headstart (Parents In Community Action).

Preschoolers

AGES 3 - 5 Years

Our Preschool kindergarten-readiness program uses an outcomes-based, learning experience approach to support children’s development of essential school-readiness skills. This comprehensive approach prepares children to enter kindergarten with the language, early literacy, mathematics, social/emotional, physical, and cognitive skills necessary to succeed.

School Age

AGES 5 - 13 Years

Our school-age program provides a happy, club-like atmosphere where children grow and receive homework support in all learning domains. The rhythm of the program takes into account each school-age child’s desire to form lasting friendships and to explore theme-related topics of interest.
